When I was young I thought it was how we look, how we talk, how we impress the girls, how we hold a shovel handle, or how we walk. But I was wrong. I was young and ignorant, poorly educated, inexperienced, etc. So when I got older and began to look at my self and to question what I believed in I found that the truth of a man is on the inside of him. I found that it had to do with integrity, honesty, self respect, concideration of others, encluding all living things and the earth. I found that it has to do with how much a man is willing to give up of his own selfish interest for the needs of others. When we are parents that is an almost absolute fact. So how do define a man in Native American culture? What is number one? Two? Three? ..... Listen to the women, what do they want in a man? Just money? Sex? A good time? or do they want the man to be a warrior, a defender of nations, the family the food source, the village. How does a man act to earn the peoples respect? Hummmm...
