An ongoing collection of articles, booklets and graphics to support the recovery, healing and Wellbriety journey
These teachings may be printed and shared with others
White Bison is now offering “Wellbriety Movement Teachings.” The teachings will guide us in our thinking and decisions as we continue on the Wellbriety path to wellness. The Mother Earth is guided by a set of Principles, Laws and Values. We human beings live on the earth, and in the old days we knew about these Principles. Our communities lived by these Laws and taught these ways to our children. Even though we have a “free will,” meaning we can do whatever we want, it’s the consequences of our decisions that matter. Every decision has a consequence. If our thoughts and decisions are made within the confines of the Natural Laws and Principles, the consequences will be in harmony with the same Laws of the Mother Earth, resulting in the creation of healthy communities and ensuring that intergenerational healing will continue. These teachings are being provided to guide us in this manner.
Innate Knowledge (2002)
By Don Coyhis (Mohican Nation), Founder
and President of White Bison, Inc.
Inside us we all know how to find
our own well-being and how to be a
well human being. We inherently know
what to do and what we are but we have
to make choices so we can actually
express that and be that in our lives.
Understanding Innate Knowledge is one
of the Wellbriety Movement ways that
can make a difference in our own lives
and in the lives of those around us.
Sober
Leadership (2004 & 2006)
By Don Coyhis (Mohican Nation), Founder
and President of White Bison, Inc.
In order for our people and communities
to walk the Wellbriety path to wellness,
our Native leadership must also be
sober, and themselves on a healing
journey. The people should consider
only casting their votes for leaders
who will commit to personal sobriety.
This is a sacrifice that our leaders
should be willing to make. 3 pages.
The
Wellbriety Journey: Nine Talks by Don
Coyhis 1999 & 2006.
By Don Coyhis (Mohican Nation), Founder
and President of White Bison, Inc.
This 30 page booklet is a good introduction
to Wellbriety, as well as to its concepts
and teachings. It is a good study addition
to a Firestarters or Medicine Wheel
and the 12 Steps Circle, as well as
to a 7 Trainings workshop and other
Wellbriety Movement programs.
About Giving (2006)
By Don Coyhis (Mohican Nation), Founder
and President of White Bison, Inc.
The Wellbriety journey allows us to
find and to access the Abundance System.
In the Abundance System, the more we
give, the more Creator sends us to
give away. This is a sweet teaching
explaining that traditional Native
culture was always part of the Abundance
system.
A
RED PAPER on a Sacred Hoop Journey
Through Colorado (2007)
By White Bison,
Inc.
In mainstream society, "White Papers" are a term denoting reports that discuss
or describe a concept or a proposal that the author of the paper wants to introduce.
They are used to educate people about a possibility that might be of interest
to them. In the Wellbriety Movement, we use RED PAPERS to get the word out to
the Native American community about something that can help with the healing
of American Indian and Alaska Native communities.
This RED PAPER proposes a regional
Journey of the Sacred Hoop to take place throughout Colorado. The purpose of
the Journey is similar to Sacred Hoop Journeys that took place in 1999, 2000,
2002, 2003, 2006 and 2007. That is, to carry a healing message by way of the
Hoop and to introduce the Wellbriety Movement wellness resources to Indian country.
This Red Paper on a Sacred Hoop Through Colorado also has another important purpose.
It's additional purpose is to propose that other regions in North America could
themselves host a Journey of the Sacred Hoop take place throughout their Native
communities. The ideas proposed for Colorado in this paper can be opened up to
serve American Indian and Alaska Native communities anywhere.
